Why pay per click (PPC) matters to a first-time founder
Pay-per-click lets you buy targeted traffic within hours, which makes it the fastest way to test a message, audience or price with real buyers. It is also the easiest way to burn cash: every click is charged whether or not anyone converts, so without tracking cost per paying customer you can keep scaling campaigns that never pay back.
Examples of pay per click (PPC)
You set a ₹12,000 test budget and pay ₹120 per click, so you get 100 visits. Four visitors start a trial and one becomes a paying customer. Your cost per trial is ₹3,000 and your cost to acquire that customer is at least ₹12,000, before design time or tools. If that customer is worth ₹4,000 a year to you, fix the funnel before you scale the spend.
Common misunderstanding
People count clicks as interest worth celebrating, or they mix the bill up with search engine optimisation. A click is a visit you paid for. SEO is a visit you earned. A cheap click that never pays is still a cost. A customer you got for free from search is a different line in the same question: what did this customer cost?
When to use it
Use it when you need to learn, this month, which message and which audience will pay. Cap the spend before you start. If you cannot name the number of paying customers that would make the test a success, you are renting traffic.
